What a day!!!! It was fantastic. The weather was again glorious even though though the weather predicted rain about 1000 hrs, I so love the weather forecast's. I think my worst fear is they predict sunshine, for then I will be in for gales and storm's.
The route when initially planned was to walk the left side of the Loch and then make a decision if to go on the road all the way to Spean bridge, a total distance of 25 miles or go to the right of the Loch at that point, depending on the volume of traffic. Well when I got there I just turned right, there was no chance of me walking on the road. Therefore it increased my Tab to 29 miles. But I have to say it was a lovely tab, quiet, great scenary, and a blistering day.( Bas you would have hated it ) On the right hand side of the Loch I came a cross two beach landing crafts, that were used for training purposes by the 5th Command's in preperation for the D-Day landing's. That alone would have made my day, but coupled with a forces background, it made it even more special. One of the craft's they had put onto the shoreline. Only the base remained and was set upon concrete, with a sign about the 5th Commando's. To stand on it just bring's respect for the men that had trained on it, I wonder how many of those commando's had been on that craft practicing for the day they had to come.
With a mile to go, I passed at the top of the hill, the official Commando Memorial, that will be on vid in the morning when I retrace my steps to get back to the Loch. Today I am 4 miles off route at Spean bridge as that was all the accomodation that was free at the time of booking and planning. I have to say never stay in the Spean Bridge hotel, It is shocking, overpriced and dirty.
I have been blessed by great weather and today although harsh on my body, was a great day. Oh by the way, I was asleep by 2030 hrs absolutly shattered, this party boy had no energy to party ( don't tell anyone I have a street cred to preserve ), so I partook in a long stock check of the eyelids.
Tomorrow is a short day 14 miles with my diversion into fort William. can't wait yea ha are we there yet.
Hope you all enjoy the vid's
