TAIN TO DINGWALL

DISTANCE: 23.21 MILES

START TIME: 0400 HRS

FINISH TIME: 1230 HRS

TOTAL DISTANCE: 118.69

The weather today was meant to come in about 0900 hrs, so as I was awake at 0300 hrs and a long day was forcast, I decided against my better judgement to leave at 0400 hrs. 1) i could hopefully get many miles in before the rain kicked in, 2) I could avoid lots of Sat traffic. I knew I had to be carefull as it was still dark, but the decision was made, so off i trogged  ( I have since been told of by Bas, my walking parner for setting off in the Dark. Point taken Bas.). Today would test my feet and I would find out if the care i had taken in sorting my feet thus far would hold up. They did, it feels like you are walking on bruised feet, so that I can handle, there were no new blister's and the burst one's are slowly healing, touch wood.

Today was more trogging down the roads, but I had been told that at Dingwall there was a tower dedicated to a McDonald, and it would, even though it sat on top of a hill in a commonwealth cemetary  be worth the visit.

At 1000 hrs the rain caught me up, thankfully it was not torrential and it was manageable. There is not a lot to say about the journey, it was road's and more road's. the Scenary was great, but again not spectacular. I have loaded two vids under day 6. I have two more days of roads and then I am in Fort Augustas and the locks then the West Highland way. Only two more long road walking days and then bliss, lochs, mountains few trucks and glorious terrain, now I'm getting excited. My journey will really begin then. I knew that the first 8 day's would be mind numbingly boring, but one has to do the road's before the really good bits would kick in. I climbed that hill and it was worth the visit, even though it was raining, I have put it on a vid and it is loaded.

Now Dingwall believe it or not is the home of Ross County football club, who would have thought it from the size of the town. Today they are playing Hearts and last I heard they were 2 nil down after 20 mins.

Yesterday was a sad day ( i'm sure you noticed from my blog ) and was the funeral of Roger Howe, a man taken away from us at the age of just 53 a character and full of life.He was a comrade of our's and will be missed greatly, I toasted you yesterday roger. I would have been there, but roger would have understood. Many of my closest friend's were there yesterday, giving him the send of he deserved. Sleep well.

well chap's and Chapesses, have good sat evening and I will talk to you all tomorrow.
