What a day, I didn't sleep well the bed and me were uncomfortable, so at 0300 hrs I was reading waiting for first light in order to get ready and leave. I started out in a foul mood I was tired, hurting
and my walking speed was down drastically, so all in all a pants start to what should be enjoyable. See my blogs are not all about the good mood; sometimes it's about the other side. And that side I rarely encounter. Then:
I was about 20 minutes into the tab and my head was down just looking at the floor and plodding, then I looked up thought come on pip square yourself away, well I stopped, looked about and saw what few other people see at that time of day. A stunning skyline and a fantastic view, and the start to a Fantastic day. What was not to enjoy, I was tabbing and at at least I can experience these feelings of joy and pain, sights and sounds, whereas many people would wish they could just have that experience full stop. That show's how motivation can work.
So to all who are able and dont do anything. That think this is just a good walk, a jolly, a holiday, try it and then think of all those people that would love to try it and are not able.
Back to the route, after I had told myself off for being a Prat ( I can hear you ) I cracked on. I wanted to get to Brora, where I had been told that I could walk on the beach, now Brora was 12 mikles away so on i cracked at the fastast pace I could manage and that was slow, LOL
The weather was stunning so hot and windless. By the time I was a mile away from Brora I had run out of water. On the plus side of pounding the A9, a red van pulled off into a layby and out stepped Lional, the kind chap who gave me a Lift to Jog from Wick. he was on his way home from his week camping and stopped for a chat, again that was moral boosting, so Thanks lionel and i will see you later in the walk.
Got to Brora replend water and believe it or not I got a sandwich, I know, I can hear you, pray tell you do not eat during the day Pip, I know, but it was such a lovely day and because I knew it was lashing it down on all my fiends in the rest of the country, I thought I would rub it in and have a 30 minute break on the beach for lunch, me my sandwich and my water.
On the beach a kind family donated to the cause and said that they had seen me on the A9 a day before. Met a herd of seals on the beach ( no shepherd in sight ) see you tube clip day 4, wont spoil it for you. I had my 30 mins break on the beach, thoroughly enjoyable i have to say.
I then left the beach found a footpath through the woods and came out on a castle, wow what a day, it was just getting better and better. see you tube clip.
arrived at the Golsie inn and opposite was a 1930's drill hall, tin roof encluded it was great. met a Family on hol who asked for the link and you never know they might pass it on. The staff at the golspie were fantastic and the food was great.
Today was a great day, today was not a chore, it was a pleasure.
Night chap's and chapesses
